Help Us Raise Funds For Cancer Research
27th Aug 2013
Here at the Preston Bennett Group, giving back to the community is always at the forefront of our minds. We support numerous charitable causes throughout the year, but none is closer to our hearts than that of The Sam Keen Foundation.
Sam Keen was a dear friend and colleague, who died tragically from cancer in 2011 at the tender age of 27, a few weeks after he married his long-term sweetheart. He fought malignant melanoma aggressively for 7 years, with dignity, great courage and a total lack of self-pity - his overriding focus throughout his long illness was to remain positive to protect those around him.
Dedicated to his memory, the Preston Bennett Group has initiated an annual Golf Day, the first of which took place in September 2012, raising almost £10,000. The 2013 Golf Day will continue to raise much needed funds for melanoma research at the world-famous Royal Marsden Hospital, where Sam was treated.
“Scheduled to take place on 11 September at the prestigious Dyrham Park Country Club in Barnet, our aim is to raise £15,000 to contribute to the foundation,” says Robert Stone of Preston Bennett & Stone. “This cause is extremely close to our hearts as Sam was a valued member of the Preston Bennett family for a number of years, and we are committed to his memory,” he concludes.
To date, the Keen family has raised in excess of £185,000 to assist Sam’s oncologist, Professor Martin Gore - the Medical Director of The Royal Marsden and Professor of Cancer Medicine at The Institute of Cancer Research - to continue his fight against this cruel disease.
With your help and donations - no matter how big or small - Sam can continue to touch people’s lives!
