The upcoming development of Elton House, situated on the corner of Elton Way and Hartspring Lane, and adjacent to Costco on the A41 - is considered to be Bushey’s landmark gateway regeneration scheme. An innovative project by Clearview Homes, Elton House was successfully negotiated through the planning system by Preston Bennett’s Planning Department.
Having been in the pipeline since July 2013, and following extensive pre-application consultation with planning officers, Hertfordshire Highways, and ward councillors, Planning Permission was recently granted for the 102 unit apartment scheme by Hertsmere Borough Council.
According to Richard Henley, Preston Bennett’s Director of Planning and Development, this is an iconic project. “With a highly competent team in the form of Clearview Homes and Assael Architecture, Elton House is due to be a statement building with the first ‘green wall’ in the Borough, and will completely enhance this crucial gateway site. We are proud to have been involved in this landmark project from its inception. Our continued association with Clearview Homes and close working relationship with all parties involved including Hertsmere Council has resulted in another successful development coming to fruition.”
Located in Bushey, Elton House - a former office building which has stood empty since 2004 - backs onto the Costco car park and is situated opposite the Hilton Hotel on the A41. The development of this site will be a welcome project within the North Bushey area.
Clearview Homes is at the helm of the development. A multi-award winning house builder and developer, the company has a reputation for creating quality, sustainable properties by making use of innovative design and accurate construction.
CEO Stephen Murphy comments: “We are absolutely delighted by this result and are proud to be part of the start of a regeneration scheme which will bring much needed new homes to the area. Interaction with the local community and continual ongoing consultation with the planners resulted in the councillors giving this scheme unanimous approval. Elton House will be the start of the provision of much needed housing in this important area,” he concludes.
Assael Architecture - the winner of The 2014 Sunday Times British Homes Architect of the Year Award - is responsible for the design of the building which will consist of 34 one bed, 63 two bed, and 5 three bedroom apartments. There will also be two levels of underground parking providing two parking spaces per flat. Sitting above this will be podium deck which will serve as a communal garden area.
Work on the site is due to start in Summer 2015.
