Stanmore Gets Festive!
12th Nov 2013
According to Director Richard Henley, “as inaugural members, Preston Bennett is delighted to be able to support the Stanmore Chamber of Trade by sponsoring the Christmas tree. The fact that the Chamber of Trade has put up the first set of festive lights in twenty years is an example of what we can do when all the local traders come together to work towards a common goal. We are all united in our desire to help shape the way that Stanmore evolves in the future, and the lights and tree on Stanmore high street are our first step.”
The recently established Stanmore Chamber of Trade is largely responsible for the renewed and excitable atmosphere. Along with the backing of Harrow Borough Council, the Chamber secured £30,000 for the illuminations.
On Thursday 7 November, hundreds of residents joined the fanfare on The Broadway to watch as the lights - which include embellishments on lampposts and a 20ft Christmas tree - were switched on by Stanmore Chamber of Trade Chairman Raj Degamia of The Balloon and Party Shop, and Deputy Mayor Camilla Bath. The Salvation Army provided the perfect soundtrack to the special occasion.
Established in July of this year, The Stanmore Chamber of Trade provides an opportunity for local traders to join forces with the view of promoting the town’s image as a place do business and to shop. With the aim of ensuring that Stanmore residents and visitors have a positive experience within the area, the Chamber’s main goal is to boost the morale of the local community.
