Will you marry me?
17th Jan 2012
It is tradition for the groom to carry the bride over the threshold of their new home, but Vishal Vadgama, 29, decided to take an earlier initiative by proposing to his bride-to-be in the shell of their new apartment - whilst it was still being built!
Vishal asked Mark Johnson of Stanmore-based estate agent, Preston Bennett, to help set up this ‘surprise proposal’ for Neesha Desai, 26.
“The developer, Nick Nearchou of Farmbridge Developments, was also in on it and cleared the room of all the building rubble - and I then called Nisha to come over as there was ‘a problem’,” explained Mark.
Meanwhile Vishal set up a table in what was to become their bedroom with champagne, glasses and cupcakes which had ‘Will you Marry Me?’ in icing on them. Neesha arrived – on what was the 4th Anniversary of when they had met – and went up to the apartment: the first time that they had actually seen their home-to-be. Vishal then surprised her with a wonderful bouquet and popped the question. Of course, the answer from Neesha was a very happy ‘YES’! “I had always wanted to propose to Neesha in our new home and thanks to Mark and Nick I was able to do so. It was a very happy and memorable start to our life there!”
Their first-floor 2-bedroom apartment in Lavender House, Elms Road on the Stanmore borders, will not be ready till next March but they bought off-plan because of its location and the excellent price. Similar two-bed apartments are available at Lavender House from £450,000: contact Preston Bennett on 020 8954 8626.
